Iain Rawlings as 'Johnny Walker' with a Diageo pensioner at Gleneagles
On 8 October 2003 Diageo, the giant company owning Distillers, Gleneagles and many other interests held a golf day which celebrated one hundred years of their Golfing Society. The event was attended by pensioners, current employees, managers and directors who all played on the various magnificent courses at Gleneagles. Past Masters ere asked to run an old time golf event on the Wee course, which was ideally suited to playing with the 'auld clubs' and about a hundred people queued up to take part entertained by 'Hick's' "show and tell" old golf talks.
Everyone got into the spirit of the occasion (excuse the drinking pun!) and dressed in period costume.
The weather was kind - part of a brilliant Indian Summer which was all the more welcome after the dreadful summer proper - and the whole event was an occasion to savour and remember both on the course and afterwards at the dinner.
